Punjab Infrastructure Development Board of Punjab has awarded the work of “Development and Operation & Maintenance of Ropar-Chamkaur Sahib-Neelon-Doraha (Upto NH-1) Road on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer basis in the State of Punjab” to M/s Atlanta Ropar Tollways Private Limited.
The road alignment passes through plain terrain. Project road runs parallel to Sirhind Canal all throughout its length.The Project highway shall be known, promoted, displayed and advertised by the name of “Sirhind Canal Toll Road Project”.
The project road starts from KM 0.000 near Ropar on NH-21 on South end and terminates at KM 54.735 near Doraha on NH-1 on North end.
The project primarily envisages strengthening of existing two-lane carriageway and widening it to standard two-lane with paved shoulder up to km 45.200 and beyond that as four-lane with paved shoulder for augmenting capacity and significantly extending the service life of the project road.
